Plants, Ecosystems, Agriculture, and Earth Systems
Dr. Ying Sun's lab studies the roles that plants play in hydrosphere-biosphere-atmosphere interactions. The overarching questions my lab seeks to answer are:
-
How do plants control the mass and energy exchange of ecosystems with atmosphere?
-
How do plants respond and feedback to climate change and variability across temporal and spatial scales?
-
How do plants affect ecosystem goods and service?
To tackle these issues, we use interdisciplinary approaches including: leaf to canopy scale measurements, global ecosystem modeling, remote sensing observations, big-data synthesis, machine learning, and geospatial analysis.
